The Market Never Sleeps, But You Were Made To

The Struggle: Overtrading, Burnout and the Inability to Rest

Crypto does not close.

Forex runs around the clock.

And somewhere in that endless flow of candles, a lot of traders have quietly lost their rest, their Sabbath, and their sleep—all in the name of not missing out.

I have spoken to traders who check their phones at 3am.

Who cannot sit through dinner without glancing at a chart.

Who have not had a full day off the screen in months.

They are exhausted.

And the exhaustion is making them worse, not better.

Because a tired trader is a careless trader.

And carelessness is expensive.

Let me say the thing that hustle culture will not:

More screen time is not more profit.

Often, it is more loss.

More mistakes.

More trades that should never have been taken.

Born from a mind too fried to think clearly.

“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil, for he gives to his beloved sleep.”

“Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Rest is not an afterthought in the design of life.

It is part of the design itself.

And no market—however fast, however open, however loud—gets to override that design.

Rest is an act of faith.

When you close the screen and walk away, you are declaring something powerful:

That you are not God.

That the market does not depend on you.

That opportunities will still exist when you return.

The market that never sleeps is not your god.

You do not have to bow to its hours.

You do not have to worship at its all-night altar.

You are allowed to rest.

You are allowed to sleep.

You are allowed to be fully present at the dinner table without your mind living on a chart.

And here is the truth most traders only learn after burnout:

When you withdraw to rest, you are not falling behind.

You are being restored.

You come back clearer.

Calmer.

More disciplined.

More accurate.

The trader who steps away often performs better than the one who never does.

Because rest is not the opposite of productivity.

It is what makes sustained productivity possible.

Protect your sleep.

Protect your worship.

Protect your presence with the people you love.

Those are not distractions from trading.

They are the foundation that keeps you stable enough to trade well.

Share this with the trader who has not switched off in weeks.

Sometimes the most profitable decision is simple:

Close the laptop. Rest. Return stronger.
